Decades Project
I learned that it was very gang related and dangerous to live here in this time, I also learned that there was a lot of people coming in from third world countries to Los Angeles which made LA very packed with people and that caused them to live in very uncomfortable situations with multiple families in one house. Another thing I learned was how brutal the police were with minorities in this area, that's what the cause of the riot was for because a cop abused his power and the people in the community weren't having it.
I think there is a lot that has changed, for one the gang violence is less because there are people who have grown up in those situations and they try to help the youth so they don't go through the same struggle they did, but on the other hand there are people who enjoy that life because it either makes them money or because that's all they know and that's all they've grown up seeing, so it's pretty much normal to them to live this life. I think a big thing that has changed is the cops, they have been less brutal to minorities because they have been checked by their bosses, so there is more watch on the cops nowadays and if they do abuse their power they will have consequences.
My personal favorite artifact would be the art piece that I drew and painted because I drew it first of all and it just has a very popping look to it with the big LA in the front that is painted blue And the little homeboy in the front of it. I also like it because I threw little things in there that shows what it's like to live in a dirty ghetto area with intimidating people always around, but really those intimidating people are all just like us “normal” just with there own style and living ways.
I think I learned most about the social/cultural area because that part really interests me, just because my family comes from this type of lifestyle and its cool to see that other people live through worse conditions.
I wouldn't change anything honestly, this project was one of the best projects I have had in a long time. I loved learning about different societies and seeing how much different they are compared to ours.
Noel cesar and I read a book called “always running” it was a book about a boy who grew up in a crazy environment and how it was to live in LA during this time. This book relates to my decade because my decade was in the 1990s an this book is based mostly around that time. The

We didn't bring any food, but if we would have brought food I would have brought enchiladas because its very good and its a Mexican dish that a lot of people eat. I would have brought this because I have an aunt that makes very delicious enchiladas, but we were un able to get a hold of her so it didn't happen.
